This year has had it’s ups and downs for me. Of course all of which I created. Sometimes it hard to digest that whatever I am experiencing, I created it. I did it and no one else. So if there were ups, I created the ups and if there were downs, I created those too. So it would behoove me to create more and more and more and even more of the ups. That is what this post is all about. I am currently reading a book entitled The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles. You may have heard of the book entitled The Secret by now. It has been on the radio, the television, and even on Oprah…twice. Well The Science of Getting Rich is where The Secret got it’s start. Funny how I came by the book.

I did not set out intentionally to purchase it. (Or perhaps I did.) My children and I were in Barnes and Nobles having a read, some coffee and dessert. My youngest son asked me to follow him to the children section of the store. As we walked along the aisles, my purse hit the table that the book was displayed. My intention was to pick it up and place it back on the table. For some reason, I didn’t. As a matter of fact, I walked through the store with the book in hand, not even glancing at it to find out what it was.

My son had to have the book he was reading. Had to see how it ended. So as I place his book on the counter, I placed mine as well. Funny thing about this, I had no intention on buying a book for myself. Well when we get home, my son gets his book from the bag and says, Mom here’s your book. When I looked at it and realized what it was, I was pleased. I had heard of the book, but never thought to go out and purchase it. Well here it was right in my hands. A book of about 80 pages. I thought to myself, I’ll finish this up tonight. To my surprise, by the end of the week, I had only gotten to page 14. Yep, page 14.

This book holds so many truths. I could not just move on to the next page without stopping to think about what I had just read. The words were so intense and so on point and so what I needed…desperately needed.

The first principle of getting rich is to understand that everything we could ever want (and don’t want) is all in our thoughts. It is our thoughts that create what it is that we are experiencing. Unfortunately most of our thoughts are on what we say we don’t want. We focus so much on the negative. When I started to pay close attention to my thoughts, I realized how many of these negative thoughts I have day in and day out. My thoughts were filled with thoughts of fear, doubt, lack, worry. So I begin to question my thoughts…all of them. I started to pay close attention to what I was thinking. And when I began to have a negative thought, I questioned it. And if I could not find any truth in it (which I never could), I replaced that thought with a new thought. And each time I did that I began to feel good. Good about myself, good about my circumstance, good about my future.

Most people tend to wait until the New Year to start fresh. Not me, not this year. The newness, the freshness starts right now. Don’t get me wrong, the battle still continues; however, now I have a few more weapons. Now I am better prepared to change my life.

I am sure as the days, months and years go by, I will see myself transform. I see a better me. I see a happier me, I see a more prosperous me. I see my businesses growing. I see my bank accounts growing. I see myself traveling, I see myself speaking in front of large groups, I see my children growing stronger, happier, and more viable. I see my family growing closer.

There is truth in that saying, Change how you see the world and the whole world changes.

In Love,
