After seeing the movie ‘This is It’, when I say, write or read those words together, something inside of me wells up. As I watched Michael Jackson rehearse for what would have been his last tour, reality set in. The name of the tour was ‘This is It’ and in this life that we are given….This is It. Even in rehearsal he was awesome. It was like watching a pre-concert show. So now the question remains, what are you going to do with the It that you are given?
I think anyone who saw that movie would agree that Michael was a perfectionist. The majority, if not all, of the people who knew him personally or professionally describes him as being a perfectionist. I believe it is because Michael knew that This is It. And because this is it, we are REQUIRED to do something spectacular. Yes, you read me right, REQUIRED!!!!! Now, you may choose to live an unfulfilled life. You may choose to walk around empty and dead. You may even choose to pretend to not know who you are. But rest assured, THIS IS IT!!!!!
During the movie, Michael coaches the lead guitarist, Orianthi into some of the most brilliant renditions of his music. During one of these sessions he tells her….’take it higher, this is your time to shine’. In essence…..This is It. Michael was so aware of the concept “It’s Now or Never’. Because he knew that, he lived that. Because he lived that others believed they could live that as well. This may have very well been one of the many reasons why so many people were saddened by his death. All over the world, people were wondering who would be the next Michael Jackson. Well, you may not be able to sing, dance or entertain in that way, but you can certainly be the next person to live the life of ‘This is It’.
I used to think that living a ‘flamboyant’ life was just that…flamboyance. Now I realize that when I shine, I give others the power to shine as well. It serves no one when I lower my standards, when I dumb-down, when I show up less than who I am. Whether I realize it or not, someone’s watching me. Someone’s out there right now thinking…..I like her. I like what she’s about. I’d like to do something similar. And I’m here to tell you that if I did it, so can you. God, Life, Universe is no respecter of person. You can’t be me, cause I got that down to a science; however, you can be YOU. You can make a difference in the world you see. And when you change the world you see, the whole world changes.
Living my life to the fullest because……THIS IS IT!!!!!!
