Christians all over the world will celebrate Easter on today. You will see people dressed in their finest clothes attending Easter service. Afterward, there will be Easter egg hunts, the presentation of Easter baskets and of course Easter dinner. People searched high and low for the perfect ‘outfit’. They waded through crowded stores, stood in check-out lines that wrapped around the circumference of the department stores, purchased chocolates, eggs by the 100th dozen, woven baskets, and plastic grass and eggs in colors of pink, blue, yellow and green. All of this and still most people do not understand the significance of what ‘Easter Sunday’ means.
I’m not a Miss Know It All; however, I would wager, that Easter Sunday is not about bunnies laying chicken eggs. I would wager that it’s not about the elaborate dress, alligator shoes or the hat that causes your neck to hurt. I would wager that it is not even about the Death and Resurrection of Jesus. It is more about the LIFE and TEACHINGS of Jesus. It is about knowing that you too can rise.
Throughout the life of Jesus, he taught us that he was not greater than us. He taught that he was ONE WITH us. He spoke words such as, “…and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” KJV St. John 14:12. He taught us that it was through our beliefs we are made whole, …”Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole“. KJV St Mark 10:52. Jesus’ words, life, death AND resurrection were all to empower us, …”I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” KJV St John 10:10.
Jesus also referred to himself as ‘THE LIGHT’. His life, death and resurrection was a light that allows us to live . Therefore, I am inclined to believe that if you are suffering, that is not of Jesus. If you are in financial debt, that is not of Jesus. If you are ill, that is not of Jesus. And on this day, you too can rise. You can bury that which you no longer wish to experience and cause a greatness to rise within you. You can allow the sun to set on all the negativity and watch as the Son rises within you light, love, peace, and blessings. ALL IN ABUNDANCE. The choice is yours.
